Palpation
The hands-on assessment begins with palpation by feeling the skin while envisioning the structures beneath it. Having an in-depth knowledge in anatomy of the human body is important when performing this examination. Applying protective wear, such as gloves, is important when necessary to prevent transmission of blood borne pathogens and infections from athlete to healthcare provider.
